Overview
Shahjalal University of Science and Technology was established as the first Science and Technology University of the country. During the last 25 years, the university has placed itself in a highly reputed position in the country for undergraduate studies. Recently, the university has made graduate ordinance for post-graduate studies. On the recommendation of 112th Academic Council meeting on October 03, 2010, the Syndicate approved the Center of Excellence on October 05, 2010. It is created as a higher research and learning institute of the university, which will offer research facilities for advanced studies (M. S., M. Engg., M. Phil. and Ph. D.) in all branches of science and Technology (Physical Sciences, Applied Sciences, Agriculture and Mineral Sciences, and Life Sciences). The facilities include the bench space for the research students and state-of-the-art instruments for advanced research and training.
Center of Excellence is developed with the following vision
• To conduct advanced research in science and technology for national development as well as fundamental research in the frontier areas of science
• To generate and disseminate scientific and technological knowledge through holding workshops, seminars and conferences at national and international levels
• To train and develop skilled scientific manpower for future leadership
• To foster national and international co-operation in science and technology for national development.
Research in all disciplines - pure, natural, and applied sciences and technology is encouraged. However, preference will be given to research proposals benefiting national interest, economy, and development. A committee of 5-6 members headed by a Director is always ready to welcome every researcher.

2. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS)
3. X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD)
4. FTIR/ATR
5. Automatic Micropore Physisorption Analyzer with Liquid Nitrogen Generator (Bet Analysis)
6. Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) System
7. Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA)
8. Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)
9. UV-VIS NIR Spectrophotometer
10. Porometer
