Biography

Muhammad Mizanur Rahman started his journey with the Department of Oceanography as a lecturer at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in 2020. He earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Marine Science from the Institute of Marine Sciences and Fisheries at the University of Chittagong in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Additionally, Mr. Rahman completed 15 credits as part of his M.Sc. in Rural Development and Natural Resource Management at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala, Sweden, in 2019. Before joining the Department of Oceanography at SUST, he worked as a senior research associate for the Centre for Participatory Research and Development (CPRD), a research-based national NGO focused on climate change, from 2016 to 2019. Before that, Mr. Rahman also worked for the world's largest conservation organization, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), for about 5 years on different projects such as Marine Protected Area, Mangroves for the Future, etc. Mr. Rahman's teaching areas include climate change, the marine environment, mangrove and coral ecosystems, and marine resource processing and extraction. He has published nine international scientific articles and contributed to various study reports as an author. He also participated in several international and national workshops, seminars, and conferences, like COP24 and Green Climate Fund proposal writing training. Moreover, Mr. Rahman played the role of a trainer and facilitator in several training sessions and workshops at the national level.
