The 5th Batch of the Department of Geography and Environment at SUST was a vibrant wave of smiling faces who chose to think beyond the box. Every individual carried a bold, creative, and endlessly curious personality. This batch sparked many new trends within the department, with one remarkable example being the celebration of Pohela Boishakh. For the first time, the department’s name proudly appeared on the colorful festival tents. The women of this batch shone in inter-departmental and inter-university sports, representing the department with confidence and bringing home trophies with grace and teamwork.
The presence of the 5th Batch went far beyond classrooms. They led clubs, societies, and associations across the campus, holding key positions such as President, Vice President, and General Secretary whether in film, science, music, sports, environment, photography, or social awareness. Together, they built a culture of unity where gender never defined ability.
They also broke the long-standing myth that only top scorers succeed. Many who weren’t at the top of the grade list went on to secure prestigious scholarships abroad through DAAD, Erasmus, NF-POGO, ISRF, and other global programs. Today, they are serving as an Anticipatory Action Coordinator at Caritas Bangladesh, Senior GIS Analysts at Spekter GmbH, and Senior Research Officers at Eutech Systems Limited, while others hold corporate, academic and research positions in Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, India, and the USA. From cosmeceuticals to traditional Bangladeshi craft ventures, from international research institutes to government organizations, they embody the spirit of their batch - daring, diverse, and dynamic.

Beyond individual success, this batch has opened doors for others, creating pathways to jobs, guiding through mentorship, and building bridges toward global opportunities and contributing to research on environmental pollution, urban climate, groundwater, deep learning, coastal hydrodynamics, ocean ecology, air pollution, sedimentation, and meteorology.
Their impact continues, not as a memory but as a living inspiration carried proudly across borders.
