Biography
Dr.
Belal Ahmed is acting as a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Shahjalal
University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh. He completed B. Sc (Honors) in Chemistry and M.S. in Inorganic Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, SUST in 2006 and 2008, respectively. After completing his graduation, he joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry,
Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) as a Lecturer in 2009, and then he moved to
the Department of Chemistry, SUST in 2011 with holding the same position. He was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2012. He obtained his PhD in 2020 from the Department of Chemistry at Chung-Ang University, Republic of Korea, directed
by Professor Kang Min Ok. His PhD thesis
focused on the structure and properties of variable oxyfluoride compounds
containing asymmetric basic building units of transition metal cations. After completion of his PhD, he came
back to the Department of
Chemistry, SUST, and received
several research grants funded by national funding authorities like the SUST Research Center, the Ministry of Science and Technology. He was promoted to Associate Professor and
Professor in 2020 and 2024, respectively. As
a potential young researcher, he joined the Fujian Institute of Research
on the Structure of Matter (FJIRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS),
China, as a special
research assistant in 2023. There, he worked in the Professor Junhua Luo
group with Professor Sangen Zhao on the design and synthesis of deep-ultraviolet (DUV) NLO and
perovskite materials with excellent properties. Currently, he is involved in
the research on the design and development of novel crystalline materials
(inorganic-organic hybrid, noncentrosymmetric
(NCS), and perovskite materials), revealing various morphologies with potential
functional properties. He is also
a reviewer for Inorganic Chemistry, ACS. Dr. Belal was born in the Sylhet
district of Bangladesh.
