Biography
Dr. Md Mahbubul Hakim is a Professor in the Department of Economics at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Bangladesh. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Sydney, Australia. His academic and research expertise spans transport economics, energy economics, and development economics. Dr. Hakim has also worked as a Lecturer in Economics at Macquarie University, Australia, and has contributed his economic analysis skills to projects funded by renowned organizations such as the Volvo Research and Educational Foundations (VREF), the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group), and Transport for NSW.
He has presented his research at prestigious international conferences in locations including Washington, D.C., and New York (USA), Antwerp (Belgium), Rhodes (Greece), Melbourne (Australia), Santiago (Chile), Shanghai (China), and Singapore. His research activities have also taken him to numerous other countries. Dr. Hakim is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma and the Bangladesh Economic Association. Beyond his academic contributions, he has been actively involved in institutional leadership. He served as the elected General Secretary of the SUST Teachers’ Association, the Member Secretary of the SUST GST Admission Test Committee, and an Additional Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at SUST. With a career marked by academic rigor and leadership, Dr. Hakim continues to make significant contributions to the fields of economics and higher education.
