Biography
Dr. Mohammad Sadiqunnabi Choudhury is a highly accomplished scholar and academician with a diverse range of experiences in the fields of economics and finance. He earned a PhD in International Development from the University of East London in 2015, an MSc in Economics and Finance from Queen Mary University of London in 2011, and an MSS in Economics from the Islamic University in 1991.
Dr. Choudhury's career spans over 25 years, during which he has held various positions in academia and the public sector. His professional journey began in 1995 as a Staff Economist at BRAC, a renowned development organization. He then joined the research department of the Bangladesh Bank, the central bank of Bangladesh, as an Assistant Director in 1997, where he served for 10 years, during which he rose to the position of Deputy Director. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to shaping monetary policy and financial regulations in Bangladesh.
Dr. Choudhury started his academic career in 2005 as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), working under a lien from the Bangladesh Bank. In 2007, he left the central banking industry to become an Assistant Professor in the department. He continued teaching and conducting research at various institutions and was promoted to the position of Associate Professor in 2016. In 2019, he was elevated to the position of professor, which he currently holds.
Dr. Choudhury has made significant contributions to the fields of economics and finance through his research. His research interests include monetary policy, microfinance, financial inclusion, poverty alleviation, and empowerment of rural people. He has published numerous articles and papers in various academic journals, and his research has been widely cited. Dr. Choudhury has also been a reviewer for several academic journals and presented his research at various national and international conferences.
