Biography

Majumder received the Bachelor (Hons.) Degree in Sociology from Dhaka University, Dhaka, and the Master degree in social and cultural anthropology, and M. Phil from the K.U. Leuven, Belgium, in 1996 and 1998, respectively. In 1999 he worked as a Research Assistant under his supervisor Prof. Dr. E. Roosen. In April 2004, Majumder joined in anthropology department as a Lecturer at SUST and became Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in 2007 and 2014. In 2017, he was awarded Ph.D. from USM, Penang, Malaysia, and the same year he became a Professor in the department of anthropology. He is the author or co-author of more than 18 papers in national and international refereed journals and more than 20 conference contributions with attending. He is a member of the editorial board of the SUST Journal of Social Sciences. His research interests cover several aspects across ethnographic research and ethnic minority discourse, environment, social and cultural issues, and indigenous peoples. He has expertise in Khasi up-land tree-crops management study.
