Biography
Dr. Khurshid Alam was born in Jhaturdia village of Nagarkanda upazila under Faridpur district. He obtained his B.Sc. (honours) and M.Sc. degrees in statistics from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh and joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Statistics at SUST on January 04, 1996. Afterwards, Dr. Alam obtained his second M.Sc. and PhD in statistics from University of Windsor, Canada. He also completed a one year post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences (the then Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics) at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, USA. Currently, he is a professor in the Department of Statistics at SUST.

Research Interests
-
Dr. Alam is motivated by the fact, “Teaching is a profession that creates all other professions.” Teaching in post-secondary level requires that a teacher has to be updated with new developments of methodologies and their applications in related fields, which can be achieved by learning through continual active research. The main focus of my research, in broader sense, is on Biostatistics and its applications. In particular, my research interest is related to Longitudinal Data Analysis, Generalized Estimating Equations, Bias Corrected as well as Bias Reduced Estimation and Tests, Survival Analysis and Regression Diagnostics. My interests also extend to developing tests and estimation procedures for zero inflated cross-sectional and longitudinal data.
