Biography
Dr. Muhammad Azizul Hoque is a Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh. He served as the Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), SUST from June 2018 to June 2021. He was appointed as a Lecturer in 2001 in the same department. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Environmental) degrees from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia. Dr. Hoque also spent a brief spell as a teaching assistant at USQ. Moreover, he worked at the Future Industries Institute, University of South Australia (UniSA) as a research fellow with Dr. Gary Owens. Dr. Hoque has more than 20 years of research experience in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He has published over 50 technical papers in international journals and conferences. He has the experience in supervising postgraduate and undergraduate students. Dr. Hoque served as the Treasurer in organizing the 5th International Conference on Engineering Research, Innovation and Education (ICERIE 2019), Sylhet, Bangladesh. He was a member of the Advisory Committee of the 5th International Conference on Advances in Civil Engineering (ICACE 2020), CUET, Bangladesh. Furthermore, he has been serving as the Conference-Secretary in organizing the 7th International Conference - ICERIE 2023, Sylhet, Bangladesh. In addition, he has been working since 2020 as the Focal Person of the academic collaboration program of CEE-SUST entitled Global Sanitation Graduate School (GSGS), which is an international platform to facilitate the development and empower the dissemination of knowledge on sanitation through postgraduate programs. Dr. Hoque has also been playing an active role in the betterment of the Centre for Research, Testing and Consultancy of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CRTC-CEE, SUST), Bangladesh from the very beginning. He delivered his duty as the Coordinator of the CRTC-CEE, SUST during 2012-2016. He is currently serving as the Team Leader of the Expansion of Osmani International Airport, Sylhet (1st Phase) Project, which is one of the priority mega projects of the Government of Bangladesh. He is leading the entire team of the CRTC-CEE, SUST in supervising the project activities.
