Biography

Dr. Haque is working as Associate Professor at the Department of Forestry and Environmental Science, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh. He obtained his PhD in Forest Pathology from the University of Valladolid, Valladolid, Spain. Earlier, he completed an MSc (Thesis) in European Forestry at the University of Eastern Finland (former University of Joensuu), Joensuu, Finland, and an MSc (Thesis) in Forestry at the University of Chittagong, Chittagong, Bangladesh. Dr Haque completed a BSc (Hons.) in Forestry at the same university in Bangladesh.

  • Molecular and conventional methods for isolation and identification of plant pathogens from tissues, soil and water
  • Role of introduced and endemic pathogens species in declining process of forest ecosystems
  • Introduction and dissemination of alien species
  • Pathways, survival strategies, host specificity and aggressiveness of plant pathogen species
  • Management and control of diseases in trees, forest and riparian ecosystems

Active Research Project

  • Assessment of damage caused by wood-decay fungi in major log depots of north-eastern Bangladesh. Funded by Research Center, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
