Biography

Mohammad Abdullah Al Mumin is a Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Mumin explores research on machine translation, corpus linguistics, natural language processing, and deep learning. Mumin is the founder of Bangla computing lab,BanglaSketch, at SUST. He is the developer of the largest Bangla representative monolingual corpus, SUMono and the largest English-Bangla balanced parallel corpus, SUPara. Currently, Mumin has been working on two machine translation (MT) system projects: shu-torjoma and shu-anubad, which are based on statistical and neural MT approach, respectively.

Mumin received his B.Sc.(Engg.) degree in Electronics and Computer Science from SUST in 2000 and M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in Computer Science and Engineering from SUST in 2012. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in English-Bangla machine translation at the same university.

Mr. Mumin's awards and honors include the ongoing ICT Fellowship (Bangladesh ICT Division) from 2016, the Chancellor's Gold Medal Award in 2001, and Bangladesh Government Fellowship from 1995 to 2000.
