Biography
I currently serve as a Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet-3114, Bangladesh, while concurrently holding a position as a PhD Candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. My teaching and research interest deeply lies in political and medical anthropology.
I scrutinize the intricate interplay of large-scale sociopolitical and structural forces, delving into their role in perpetuating social inequalities and molding the quotidian practices of diverse individuals, communities, and institutions. My scholarly purview encompasses multifaceted areas of inquiry, including but not limited to development politics, climate injustice, health policy and systems, and ethnographies of institutions and NGOs.
Central to my academic ethos is the conscientious application and refinement of anthropological theories. These encompass a rich tapestry of theoretical analysis, spanning neoliberalism, political economy, governmentality and (eco)biopolitics, citizenship and rights activism, and nuanced analyses of structural violence. Through rigorous scholarship and scholarly engagement, I aspire to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing discourse within the academic community and beyond.
My research appeared in different national and international journals, conferences, webinars, and seminars. Recently, I presented a paper on “Maternal care, risks, and violence: Toward an Analysis of Health Inequalities in Bangladesh” which has been co-authored with some of my colleagues at SUST, at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the American Anthropology Association. However, I serve as a peer reviewer of Substance Abuse Journal.
